How can I manage my master data (services, units, matches)?

You can define how you want this data to be displayed in your documents.

You may want to translate your services, units and matches in your documents to make sure they match the language of your client.

Let's say you speak French and you defined the unit "Mots" (French for 'words') for yourself to use in LSP.expert, but your client speaks English. So, you selected for them the document configuration in English but, as you defined your unit in French, it is mentioned in French in your documents.


In this case, you can do as follows:

Under Settings > Document and email configuration, select the document configuration concerned.

Then go in the 'System values' tab of this document configuration. 

To translate your units, simply write the translation in the fields on the right.

What you see in the interface is thus different than what your clients will see in the document you will send them.

And of course, don't forget to go in the client's details and make sure you selected the right document configuration for them.


If you're using LSP.expert V1

Sometimes, it can be useful to have some items in the interface (that are only visible by you) and another wording in your PDF documents (sent to your clients/suppliers).

For example:

  1. It can happen that you apply different rates for a single service for a client, depending on the domain of expertise concerned. For example, you can decide to apply a higher rate than your "generic" rate for an FR-EN translation if it's a medical/legal or technical text. In this case, you simply have to create different services that you can call "FR-EN translation - Medical" or "FR-EN translation Legal" for example, and define the corresponding rate for these services. When creating a job, you then simply have to choose the right service. But it's possible that you don't want to see "FR-EN translation - Medical" on your invoice, but simply "FR-EN translation" (because your client doesn't have to know your "internal business" with your rates).

  2. Or, you may want to translate your units to make sure they match the language of the client. Let's say you speak French you defined the unit "Mots" for yourself to use in LSP.expert, but your client speaks English. So, you choose for him the document configuration in English but, as you defined them in French, your units are still written in French in your documents.


In these cases, you can do as follows:

Under Settings > Document and email configuration, select the document configuration concerned.

Go in the "Master data" tab of this configuration.

Example 1 above: To change the name of a service on your documents, simply write the name of your choosing in the field.

Example 2 above: To translate your units, simply write the translation in the fields on the right.

What you see in the interface is thus different than what your clients will see on the document you will send them. You have all the details you need in the interface (i.e. the "medical" part to make sure you select the right service and the right rate, or your units in your own language) and you decide what the client sees on the document.

And of course, don't forget to go in the client's details and make sure you selected the right document configuration.
