In LSP.expert, there is no notion of 'projects' as such, but rather a notion of 'groups' in which you can gather jobs. All your groups can be found in the Groups tab.

To know how to create a new group containing jobs, see this article: https://help.lsp.expert/en/articles/1730207-how-can-i-create-a-group-project-containing-several-jobs

To know how to add a job to an existing group, see this article: https://help.lsp.expert/en/articles/1730222-how-can-i-add-a-job-to-an-existing-group-of-jobs

Some interesting things to know:

  • You can edit the name and colour of a group by clicking on the group in your list of groups and by editing the Overview panel of this group.

  • You can remove a job from a group by clicking on the three dots at the end of the job line in the details of the group.

  • If the group contains outsourced jobs, the system tells you, in the details of the group, the total of suppliers, the total amount and your total margin.

  • You can add a common PO number for all the jobs in the group by editing the Billing panel of the group in the details of the group.

List of jobs

In your list of jobs, you see that the jobs belonging to a group are identified with a coloured icon (the colour of the group).

If you're using LSP.expert V1

In LSP.expert, there is no notion of "projects" as such, but rather a notion of "groups" in which you can gather as many jobs as you wish, putting them "at the same level" or creating dependencies between the jobs.

In your list of jobs, you can drag and drop jobs using the icon (the one with three lines) at the beginning of each line.

To create a new group: You simply drag and drop a job into another job. When doing so, the system will show you (with green arrows) in which jobs you can drag and drop a job. It will then ask you what you would like to do:

If you choose to create a new group, both jobs will be "parent jobs" in the group (you see that they are "at the same level").

If you choose to create a dependency, you see that one job is the parent job, and the other one (the Press release in the screenshot below) is a "sub-job" depending on the main job (what we call a dependency).

To add a job to an existing group: You simply drag and drop a job again into another job (which is already in a group). The system will ask you if you would like to add the job to the group (meaning that it will become a parent job in the group) or create a dependency (meaning that it will depend on the parent job).

Some interesting things to know:

  • You can edit the name of a group by clicking on the little pencil icon (next to the name of the group) in the group details.

You will then be able to change the name/add a name and choose a color for the group.

This color will be used in your list of jobs (bullets at the beginning of the lines) to identify which jobs are in the same group.

  • You can remove a job from a group using the corresponding icon (broken chain) in the group details. When there is only one job left in a group, the group is deleted (but not the job of course!).
Note that when you remove a "parent job", the dependencies are also removed from the group.

  • You can always drag and drop jobs in the group details. You can create a dependency by dropping a job "into" another one, and you can add a "parent job" by dropping a job on top of the list.

  • If the group contains outsourced jobs, the system tells you the total of suppliers, the total amount and your total margin.

  • You can add a common PO number for all the jobs in the group by clicking on the little pencil next to 'Purchase order', see below:

List of jobs

In your list of jobs, you see that your groups are identified with colored bullets (you can change the color in the group details using the pencil icon). The parent jobs have a big bullet and the dependencies have a small bullet. You can click on these bullets to view the group details.

Duplicate a job

In your jobs, you can use the Duplicate button to add the duplicated job to a new group or to create a dependency. (If the job you want to duplicate already belongs to a group, you will also have the possibility to add the duplicated job to the group.)

If you choose to duplicate the job and create a new group, you will be asked to define a name and a service for the duplicated job.

Then, once in the duplicated job, you will see (on the left under the job name) that a group has been created along with the duplicated job (and again, you can edit the name and the color of the group by clicking on it).

If you choose to duplicate the job and create a dependency, the duplicated job will become a dependency of the job you're duplicating.

Filter

To have a clear view of all the jobs contained in a group, you can also choose to filter these jobs in the list of jobs. You will find this option below in the group details. This will filter your list of jobs so that you only see the jobs in this group.
